FUNDING SOURCE: Grant-funded

REPORTS TO: Director of Workers’ Education Program.

SHIFT/SCHEDULE:Monday through Thursday, 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm

SUMMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Staff Associate for the Workers’ Education Program performs a variety of tasks related to the coordination of services for the adult basic education program. The contract period is through June 30, 2026, with possible renewal September 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.

EXAMPLES OF PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct Student Orientations and Returning Student Registrations.
  • Provide information and make appropriate referrals regarding WEP, other adult education programs, and local social service agencies to prospective and current students.
  • Advise and assist students with forms and applications related to education and social services.
  • Provide information to students, instructors, and others as requested about WEP policies and procedures.
  • Maintain program waiting lists (Active, Inactive, and SMARTT) using WEP processes.
  • Schedule Placement Tests and Student Orientations.
  • Prepare materials for Assessments, Student Orientations, and Returning Student Registrations.
  • Serve as substitute teacher as needed.
  • Assist with program publicity, recruitment, and maintenance of web site.
  • Perform clerical duties such as answering telephone, taking messages, and routing mail.
  • Process, monitor, and maintain all office, student, and instructor books, materials, and supplies.
  • Prepare reports for Director and Instructors
  • Work on special projects for the Director,
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.

EXPERIENCE: Experience working with the adult learner population.

OTHER: Computer literacy.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Fluent in Spanish or Portuguese.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, cross cultural, and organizational skills.
