Assistant/Associate Professor Positions in Chemistry & Biochemistry

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth invites applications for open tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant or associate professor level beginning in September 2025. The Department is particularly interested in candidates with a teaching and research focus in the areas of Analytical and Biological Chemistry, but applications from all areas of chemistry will be considered.

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is in the beautiful ocean side community of Dartmouth, about an hour south of Boston, half-hour east of Providence, and half-hour west of Cape Cod. It offers a world class education to undergraduate and graduate students each year in over 40 undergraduate and 23 graduate programs offered by the College of Engineering, College of Nursing, Charlton College of Business, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Visual and Performing Arts, School of Law and School for Marine Science and Technology.

Duties

The successful candidate is expected to develop a nationally recognized, externally funded research program; implement inclusive, evidence-based teaching and learning approaches to ensure the academic success of a diverse student population; advise undergraduate and graduate (MS & PhD) students; and contribute to university and professional service.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates must have earned bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in chemistry, biochemistry or a closely related field at the time of appointment
  • Candidates must be able to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in chemistry and/or biochemistry
  • Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence and scholarly research 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postdoctoral research in chemistry and/or biochemistry or a closely related field.
