This is an Honors faculty tenure-track position. We welcome applicants from a variety of methodological, disciplinary, and theoretical backgrounds with a substantive focus on law, crime, and society, punishment, and/or the carceral state, in the United States or the US in comparative perspective. The teaching load is 2/2 and consists of two Legal Studies courses and two Honors courses per year, particularly the Honors Thesis Seminar or courses satisfying General Education requirements. Honors Faculty also are engaged in the Commonwealth Honors College community and meet annually with the CHC Dean, in addition to contributing to the life of their home department, college, and university.

Visiting (Open Rank) Research Professor UMass Amherst
The Visiting (Open Rank) Research Professor for Slavery North will actively participate in both the scholarly and social environment of the center. Visiting Research Professors, with support of Slavery North leadership, will conduct independent research and create original works in one or more of the five mandate areas of Slavery North which include 1) Canadian Slavery, (2) slavery in the US North, (3) the comparative study of slavery in Canada, the US North, and other northern or temperate regions, (4) the study of the inter-connectedness of slavery in Canada and the US North with Caribbean Slavery, and (5) Black-Indigenous relations in Canadian Slavery or US North Slavery. Furthermore, the research must center on the enslaved and/or adopt an anti-colonial, de-colonial, post-colonial, and/or anti-racist methodology/approach which challenges the nature of European and Euro-American imperialism and colonialism and interrogates the racist logic of the institution of Transatlantic Slavery.

The Institute for Applied Life Sciences (IALS) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking a Director for its Human Magnetic Resonance Center (hMRC). The Director will be a dynamic, inclusive leader with a vision to support on-going excellence in research, to grow the user base, and to establish the hMRC as an outstanding research resource engaged in a full range of human imaging and spectroscopy applications.  The hMRC provides state-of-the-art, non-invasive imaging and spectroscopy of all human body tissues for academic and industry-based research on and off campus. This is the only research-dedicated 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)/magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) system in western Massachusetts.   This position is accompanied by a non-tenure track clinical faculty appointment.
