The HR Associate for Benefits will assist our customers by providing excellent customer service regarding highly sensitive and confidential information. Human Resources Associate- Operations
General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for coordinating various functions of front-end operations including administrative support to HR Leadership positions. The incumbent has access to a wide range of confidential information and will have access to grievances, arbitrations and collective bargaining on behalf of the Administration. Exceptionally high degrees of confidentiality, discretion and customer service are required of this position. As such, the incumbent is a confidential employee as defined in M.G. L. Chapter 150E, Section 1.
Human Resources Associate -Benefits
General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Human Resources Associate provides direct administrative support and assistance to the Benefits Manager and the Office of Human Resources. The Human Resources Associate for Benefits assists in research, processes communications, maintains confidential files, and prepares correspondence for the Benefits Manager pertaining to all aspects of health and welfare, worker’s compensation, FMLA, retirement, etc. The Human Resources Associate assists with maintaining regular communications with representatives of other state agencies, institutions of higher education, union officials, and members of the UMass Dartmouth management team and UMass System. The incumbent has access to a wide range of confidential information and will have access to grievances, arbitrations and collective bargaining on behalf of the Administration. Exceptionally high degrees of confidentiality, discretion and customer service are required of this position. As such, the incumbent is a confidential employee as defined in M.G. L. Chapter 150E, Section 1.
Qualifications:
- Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in Human Resources or a large corporation.
- Previous experience with HRIS systems. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential matters.
- Ability to deal with sensitive employee issues in a professional manner.
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing deadlines skillfully.

- Excellent attention to detail and ability to audit written materials and the work of others.
- Strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet manipulation, and database management. Ability and willingness to gain a working knowledge of special purpose software programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PHR or SPHR certificate.
- Previous Human Resources experience in an institution of higher education or large corporation.
- Previous experience in benefit administration.
- Working knowledge of federal/state labor laws and regulations.
