The Psychology Department announces an opening for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in clinical psychology starting September 1, 2019. Candidates with exceptional qualifications may be considered for prior credit toward tenure and promotion. Scholarship is a requirement of the position and publishing in peer-reviewed contexts will be necessary to earn tenure. The successful applicant will also be expected to remain clinically active to maintain clinical skills and contacts. The position will teach graduate courses in the Clinical Psychology MA program and clinically-related undergraduate courses. Examples of courses that might be assigned include: Graduate Clinical Supervision courses (e.g., Practicum), Family Therapy, Evaluation Techniques, Behavior Modification, and Multicultural Counseling. Our Clinical MA program trains Licensed Mental Health Counselors, and our students are recruited by employers in a variety of clinical settings. The position requires clinical experience and knowledge of community mental health policy and practice. In addition, we seek candidates who fit with our philosophy of training students in the use of empirically-supported treatments such as behavior therapy, CBT, DBT, etc.
Minimum qualifications: An earned Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field, at least three years of postdoctoral clinical experience, and an understanding of community mental health. In addition, state licensure or the capacity to become licensed in Massachusetts as a Psychologist - Health Service Provider is required.
Preferred qualifications: More than three years of postdoctoral clinical experience is preferred and the ideal candidate will have both adult and child clinical experience. The applicant should demonstrate excellent potential in both teaching and clinical supervision and interest and ability to teach internship courses at the graduate and undergraduate level. Knowledge of local community agencies is desirable as is an additional license as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and/or Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D). A record of scholarship and the potential to develop funded research will be weighted positively. The ideal candidate will demonstrate evidence of successful work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
