Endowed Chair in Portuguese Studies for Spring 2019

The Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture/Tagus Press (CPSC/TP) at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is seeking candidates for the Hélio and Amélia Pedroso/Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD) Endowed Chair in Portuguese Studies for Spring 2019.

Established in 2001 by the CPSC/TP, the Hélio and Amélia Pedroso/Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD) Endowed Chair in Portuguese Studies allows for the appointment of a distinguished scholar, professor and/or author, specializing in any area of the humanities and social sciences of the vast and diverse Portuguese-speaking world, comprised of over 220 million people in eight countries, on four continents.

The Hélio and Amélia Pedroso/Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD) Endowed Chair in Portuguese Studies is a rotating, visiting distinguished scholar program that supports the interdisciplinary graduate and undergraduate programs in Portuguese Studies and the research objectives and publications of the CPSC/TP. The Endowed Chair will teach one graduate course during the Spring semester of 2019 (mid-January to mid-May) and will deliver one or more public lectures in her or his area of expertise. The Endowed Chair may also contribute to the publications of the CPSC/TP. If applicable, please provide a summary of potential editorial collaborations with the application. The rate of compensation for the (15-week) period is USD $55,000.00 (before taxes).
