Tenure Track or Clinical Track Assistant Professor Adult/Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

General Summary of Position:

The College of Nursing, Adult Nursing Department invites applications for a full time position beginning in academic year 18-19. Primary responsibilities include teaching in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, student advising, scholarship, and service. Additional responsibilities include teaching in the baccalaureate and master's degree programs as appropriate. 

Additional Information:

The College of Nursing has approximately 32 full-time faculty members and offers undergraduate and graduate programs in two Departments-Adult Nursing and Community Nursing. The baccalaureate degree program has approximately 450 students in the pre-licensure track, 250 students in the fully online RN-BS track, and 25 students in the second degree accelerated BS hybrid track. The College also offers graduate programs at the MS, DNP, and PhD level, with approximately 120 students enrolled across the graduate programs. The College faculty teach across undergraduate and graduate programs using a range of pedagogical approaches. The College is committed to building nursing scholarship in the areas of chronic illness, nursing education, and global population health. The College has a long standing teaching and research collaboration with the College of Engineering. The College also has a growing portfolio of international collaborations and offers unique clinical experiences through these collaborations. All programs are fully accredited by CCNE.

The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is located in the beautiful ocean side community of North Dartmouth, about an hour south of Boston, half-hour east of Providence, and half-hour west of Cape Cod. The University has an enrollment of over 8,000 students in over 40 undergraduate and 23 graduate programs offered by the College of Nursing, Charlton College of Business, College of Arts and Science, College of Visual and Performing Arts, School of Law, and School for Marine Science and Technology.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):  Include a PhD in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP); certification as an Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner; 5 years of recent NP clinical experience; and 3 years of higher education or clinical staff development teaching experience. Massachusetts APRN licensure or eligibility for licensure.

Preferred Qualifications: Include 5 or more years of higher education or clinical staff development teaching experience.
